J&K’s statehood will be restored if the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) announces it; if not, the INDIA (Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance) bloc will do so as its first move after toppling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party. Whether the BJP wants it or not, we will see to it that the region regains its statehood. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Gandhi, declared, “We will put pressure on the government under the banner of the INDIA alliance.”

In south Kashmir’s Dooru district of Anantnag, Mr. Gandhi was speaking to supporters. Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference, and NC MP Mian Altaf joined him in a display of strength. Together, the two parties are running for the 90-seat Assembly.

In addition, Mr. Gandhi criticized the BJP for making J&K a Union Territory. J&K was reduced from a state to two union territories. A state having its own Assembly, where laws are formed and topics are discussed, is considered democratic. Mr. Gandhi stated, “All such goods were seized [from J&K].

The Congress leader spoke at two Dooru and Ramban electoral rallies. Insisting that “we will win the battle by promoting brotherhood and harmony,” he said, “open a shop of love where the BJP will set up a shop of hate.”

He stated that the Pandits of Kashmir had also been let down by the BJP, which had “used them for vote bank politics only.”
